TPC Danzante Bay
TPC Danzante Bay has all the beauty, but none of the beast, of the famed U.S. Open venues designed by golf architect Rees Jones.
The renowned “U.S. Open Doctor” – a nickname Jones earned for his work to prepare courses for 11 U.S. Open Championships – created Danzante Bay to be both player-friendly and fun to play throughout.
Part of the Villa del Palmar Beach Resort & Spa – located along the east coast of Mexico’s Baja Peninsula at The Islands of Loreto – TPC Danzante Bay’s par-72 course offers five sets of tees that begin at 4,916 yards, stretch to 7,237 yards, and feature wide fairways and large, receptive greens.
Most of the approaches to the greens on TPC Danzante Bay are open — allowing shots to run on safely — while the holes along the cliffs feature more strategically placed collection areas to help keep errant shots from taking the plunge into the deep blue water below.
The course covers different terrains, including beach, cliff, and canyon, combining the natural scenery provided by Mother Nature with Jones’s creativity to charm golfers with views that spread out across the horizon in virtually every direction and make a round as visually stunning as it is captivating.
Constantly changing is the wind that comes off the Sea of Cortez. It can be different day to day as well as hour to hour, creating new challenges every time out.
Protecting nature’s bounties was key to producing a world-class golf experience.
“Being located in a protected marine park, we adhered to stringent environmental rules. We gladly accepted the challenge, because we feel this keeps the Islands of Loreto unique,” said Owen Perry, the co-developer of the property.
“When I first saw the land where we are building this golf course, I was stunned by the amazing beauty of both the mountains and water that surround it,” Perry said. “Sunrise each day gives the mountains a brownish hue and when the sun sets at night, they turn a vibrant red. We’ve literally carved this golf course into this incredible setting while maintaining all of its natural beauty.”
TPC Danzante Bay made its debut in 2017 and quickly established its place among the world’s most scenic ocean courses. Recently, the course was awarded two World Golf Awards, earning recognition as Mexico and Latin America’s Best Golf Course. Other awards the golf course has received include the 2020 Golf Digest’s Editor’s Choice award for Best Resorts/Mexico/Central
America as well as Golf Magazine’s Top 100 Golf Resort in North America in the Buddies category.
Only a two-hour flight from Los Angeles, Villa del Palmar Resort is an ideal locale for discovering the region’s unique beauty, authentic culture, quiet beaches, scenic vistas, rich history, and natural habitats.
Besides golf, guest enjoy access to ocean adventures including world-class fishing, swimming, paddle boarding, kayaking, and whale watching, plus a luxurious spa and three unique dining experiences.
